Who is responsible for accessibility in your organization? Answer: Everyone. In this follow-up to our 2021 webinar “Accessibility: Beyond Compliance,” we explored, in detail, the various accessibility roles and responsibilities. Straive’s Senior Director of Accessibility, Todd Marquis Boutin, was joined by three panelists who specialize in building and advising accessibility teams: Jennifer Chadwick (Senior Accessibility Consultant, Global, Siteimprove), Pina D’Intino (Accessibility Consultant, Aequum Global Access), and Brian Thompson (Accessibility Strategy and Implementation Manager, Great Minds).

Panelists

Todd Marquis Boutin, CPACC
Senior Director Accessibility, Straive
Todd comes to accessible publishing and eLearning from a background in social services and education. Since 2017, he has overseen the authoring of 2.5 million image descriptions for K-12 and Higher Ed learning products. Todd also works with Straive’s product teams to design client-tailored, multi-service accessibility solutions. He collaborates with clients on accessibility strategy and guidelines development, and he provides trainings for editors and content creators. Todd has been credentialed as a Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) by the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP). He is an active member of W3C’s Silver Community Group and Alt Text Subgroup, and he has presented on alt text authoring for the University of Guelph Accessibility Conference, M-Enabling, the ICT Testing Symposium, and IAAP’s OPD Webinar series.
Jennifer Chadwick, CPACC, CUA
Senior Accessibility Consultant, Global, Siteimprove
Jennifer is a former user experience designer of websites and mobile applications, and her 15-year background in user research and usability solidified her commitment to accessibility and inclusive design. Jennifer guides digital teams through a process of adopting and implementing inclusive best practices in design, development, content, and testing through their operations and culture. She has provided counsel to executive management teams and digital practitioners in both the public and private sectors in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Jennifer is a Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC), a Certified Usability Analyst (CUA), and Certified User Experience Researcher (CXR). She is a proud member of the Accessibility Roles and Responsibilities Methodology (ARRM) task force, within the W3C Education and Outreach Working Group (EOWG), and an active participant in the W3C Silver Working Group (AGWG).
Pina D’Intino, PMP, MDes, CPACC
Accessibility Consultant, Aequum Global Access Inc.
Pina D’Intino is an accessibility strategist and consultant who works closely with public and private sector businesses and organizations to establish accessibility within Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) organizational and operational change. She is an internationally recognized leadership and accessibility speaker who establishes robust strategic frameworks and develops organizational accessibility roadmaps and strategies promoting inclusion from both executive leadership and grassroots perspectives. In her career, Ms. D’Intino has held several IT operational, accessibility, and managerial positions; has pioneered and founded a cross-institutional hub for accessibility and inclusion; and is an entrepreneur. Her client portfolio includes global financial institutions and banks; telecommunication and publication companies; international consulting firms; and municipal, provincial, and federally regulated organizations in Canada and the US, including educational institutions. Ms. D’Intino was a member of the Accessibility for Ontarians Disability Act (AODA) regulations committee and was a founding member of the G3 ICT International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP). She continues to sit on several committees promoting accessibility professionals and certification programs. Ms. D’Intino enjoys listening to music and spending time with family and friends. She travels with her standard poodle, Itzy.
Brian Thompson
Accessibility Strategy and Implementation Manager, Great Minds
Brian currently oversees the development and execution of accessibility plans and processes at Great Minds—a leader in K-12 curriculum development and publishing. Previously, he worked in accessibility in the financial sector (TD Bank, N.A) and in educational publishing (Six Red Marbles and Straive). Brian is fascinated by the evolution of digital accessibility, how accessibility permeates all aspects of an organization, and the tremendous positive impact that occurs when making digital experiences accessible.
